We are the first black owned Nail Salon & Spa in New Bern, North Carolina. We provide Pedicures, Manicures, Body waxing, Acrylic & Gel Full Sets, Massage, and starting in September we also offer Lashes.
In your industry it appears to be dominated by Asians and Koreans. How hard is it to change perceptions in our communities?
Surprisingly, It has not been that difficult at all. The community my business is located in is predominantly African American. When my shop opened on July 30th everyone was so excited and supportive.
Everyone in the community surprisingly including white Americans were extremely excited, and they all said they had been waiting for someone else to step in. They were so excited the customers did most of my promotion of the shop for me. The welcoming has been mind blowing.
There were of course the few that were looking at me side ways, and still prefer the "traditional look". Honestly, that is fine with me. I am not here to step on toes, but I am here to be the change we seek.
Our shop will be the first of its kind for this area. It will be a one stop shop. Our customer's will be able to come in and get their hair, eyebrows, lashes, nails, massage, and skin care needs taken care of all in this one spot. We are in partnership with doTerra, who makes the number one essential oils in the country, and we sell their products. Our shop will also have body butters, lotions, essential oils sold in store, and skin care products sold in store also.

Do you currently have any specials or daily discounts etc?
We are currently running a Special for $20 pedicures, and $20 full sets until August 27, 2018
Are you open to throwing like Spa Parties etc? And if so who do they contact to set that up?
Yes. We are actually in the process of putting together some bridal packages priced on a Bridal Party of 5. It will give that bridal party their own time here at the shop. Where the shop would be closed down during their time. They will be able to come have wine, some finger foods, manicure, pedicure, waxing, and lashes. If..
We have our in house hairstylist by that time, they will also be able to get their hair done during that time as well. A similar package will also be available for Birthdays, Graduations, and other events.
